working here is more than just a job

If you're passionate about working hard, sharing your faith, and growing the Kingdom, we might be the right place for you to use your gifts. Our mission, Helping People Find & Follow God is not an easy calling in today's world, but we know God is bigger than any challenge we face and we're constantly re-focusing our passion to be in step with His calling on our lives. We've built a team that does great work and has an awesome time doing it, all while balancing work and home life.

CURRENT OPENINGS

The Compass Church is focused on Helping People Find & Follow God. We love Chicago! We love being a multi-generational, multi-racial church family, sharing the good news and good deeds of Jesus throughout the western suburbs. Our church meets in 5 sites in Naperville, South Naperville, Wheaton, Bolingbrook, and Plainfield. We are also online. Each week, we are about 3,900 people in-person and 1,200 online.

The Campus Pastor of our site in Wheaton, IL is returning to a calling to church planting and missions in Europe (good for him! Bad for us!). We are looking for another godly leader to take on this important role. Our Find & Follow mission has very practical expressions in our church, as we’re constantly seeking to further develop effective cultures of evangelism and discipleship, to equip and serve thousands of people.

Currently, our Wheaton Campus serves about 600 people each weekend across 3 worship services (one Saturday night and two Sunday morning). With a worship center that seats up to 750 people and major renovations ($10+ million) in the works planned for 2025, we expect the campus could serve up to 1,500 people across these 3 worship services. This Campus Pastor will lead this campus culture for health and growth.

Each of our Campus Pastors autonomously oversees several significant ministry areas at their site: Kids, Students, Adults, Support Groups, Congregational Care, Guest Services, and Community Impact. Other important ministry areas are aligned churchwide and overseen centrally by peer Executive Pastor/Director teammates: National, Global, Operations, Communication Arts, and Worship Arts.

Our Campus Pastors are weekly involved in our worship services, through overseeing various pastoral leadership segments: vision-casting, welcoming, administering communion & baptisms, offering various next steps, etc. Our Campus Pastors preach in our worship services about 2-4 times each year. Our Senior Pastor preaches throughout the year; at some sites in-person and at some sites via video streaming.

Our Campus Pastors hire, develop, care for, lead, and manage the Staff of the site they serve. Each of their Staff reports is a Pastor/Director leader of leaders, responsible for mobilizing staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to help hundreds of people Find & Follow God. Our Campus Pastors are entrusted with creating and stewarding cultures of life transformation throughout the various staff and teams they oversee.

We are well positioned for further growth. Our generous and engaged church family meets budget each year. Our operating budget is $11.2M. We are actively planning a next capital campaign. We own the land for all 5 of our sites and are open to starting new sites. We are planting a new church in the City of Chicago. We are launching a next worship service in Spanish. We are growing online. We are in a prison.

Our Wheaton Campus Pastor is part of a focused and fun team; serving on the Senior Staff of our church as a peer to our other Campus Pastors and Executive Pastors/Directors under the leadership of our Executive Pastor and Senior Pastor. Our Senior Pastor Jeff has 30 years of ministry experience in Chicagoland leading large and growing churches and has plenty of years left at our church to continue to make a difference.

We are part of the Evangelical Free Church of America; a healthy and united denomination of 1,500 churches. We are committed to seeking the good of this movement and regularly connect with and encourage other churches in our movement in the Midwest. We are also friends with many churches of all kinds across Chicagoland, working together for the gospel good of our city. There is a good vibe among us
